Why subscribe?

I’ve missed writing on my long-dormant blog and my old newsletter Taken Liberties. This newsletter will be a mix of both styles: some posts will be essays on current events or observations about our culture; others will be a round-up of my professional work published elsewhere and short comments on my personal interests.

Longtime readers will know that my policy work is focused on policing and other criminal justice issues, but much of that work is informed by the enduring American cultural legacies of race and injustice that have far reaching effects beyond cops and courts.

As for my politics: some would call me a libertarian, but I would not.
